Strawberries grown “with love” on the Sunshine Coast hinterland will shine bright on top of the famous Ekka sundae.
Sunray Strawberries at Wamuran has sent its batch of fruit to the RNA Showgrounds with around six tonnes of red ripe strawberries have arrived in Brisbane.
Owner Ray Daniels says they’ve been supplying strawberries for the Ekka sundae for the past 15-years.
A”We’re starting to get into strawberry season now, we have had a tough strawberry season because of all the rain, but the strawberries are starting to come on slowly now,” he says.
“They are looking good.”
A hundred thousand sundaes are expected to be served at this year’s Ekka, helping raise funds for medical research at The Prince Charles Hospital.
