Wood loses damages lawsuit against NSW
Six years after Gordon Wood was acquitted of murdering his girlfriend Caroline Byrne, he has lost a lawsuit seeking damages from the NSW government.
The 55-year-old served more than three years of a 13-year sentence after being convicted of killing his 24-year-old girlfriend at The Gap in 1995.
His conviction was overturned in 2012 with the NSW Court of Appeal finding suicide couldn't be ruled out as a cause of Ms Byrne's death.
Mr Wood, the former chauffeur to flamboyant stockbroker Rene Rivkin, pursued the state for millions of dollars in damages in the NSW Supreme Court for malicious prosecution.
However Friday's ruling means he will receive no compensation from the government.
