A Year Six Teacher at Peregian Springs State School has been named an outstanding STEM teacher, making him one of only five recipients across the State.

Mr Sandy Neisler received the Peter Doherty Outstanding STEM teacher award last week.

This week, Mr Neisler’s passion will be on display as part of classroom activities at Peregian Springs State School to celebrate National Science Week.

Ninderry MP Dan Purdie said local students were fortunate to have access to such quality teaching resources on the Coast.

“Many of the jobs of the future are likely to be based in STEM fields, and it’s critical that our young people are given as much opportunity as possible to enhance their knowledge and passion in these subjects.

“To see teachers with a clear passion in this area is an exciting prospect, and I congratulate Mr Neisler for helping sharpen the minds of our next generation,” Mr Purdie said.
