Emerging local country music artist Brooke 'Josie' Roberts will continue her year of success when she travels to perform at the Gympie Music Muster this weekend.

Brooke's performance at the Gympie Music Muster will form part of the festival's prestigious Talent Search, where she will compete against nine other junior finalists from across Australia.

“I have never been to the Muster before, but when they announced that the Talent Quest was open for entries, I jumped on the opportunity just to see where I would go with it," Josie said.

"A few weeks later I received an email confirming I had made it through to the semi-finals! I will have some friendly competition with my fellow Country Music Academy students, who I am very much looking forward to catching up with.”

Josie has become a regular name on country music lineups in Townsville and further afield since attending the Country Music Junior Academy in Tamworth last year to fine-tune both her performing skills and networking within country music circles.

“I think that’s the best thing about country music, it brings people together and that is what I love about it. The friends I have made through music have supported and helped me with so many things and I am super grateful, so I can’t wait to kick back at the campgrounds with a few!”

The Muster will take place over the last weekend of August 22-25 featuring more than 100 artists, both international and local.

“All I can say is I am #KeenAsMUSTERed! I can’t wait to get amongst it all.”

Last month, Josie competed at the Hughenden Country Music Festival, where she placed first in three sections, second in another two, and was selected as ‘People’s Choice Award’.

“I am incredibly humbled to have received these awards, I was lost for words! I gained some great experience during my performances, receiving feedback sheets, and playing my songs with one of the best bands in the business.”

After Gympie, Josie plans to head out to various other music festivals across Queensland, before returning to the iconic Tamworth Country Music Festival in January next year.
