REPORT | Woodford Will Miss Out On New Prison Staff Allocations

Woodford prison officers are calling for clarification after the State Government announced a new campaign to recruit more than 700 additional frontline staff.

Sources inside the correctional centre said they are desperate for the extra resources, but none of the new recruits will go to Woodford.

Opposition leader Deb Frecklington said it is a concerning allegation.

Ms Frecklington said "if that allegation is correct, then the Minister certainly needs to explain to the prison staff at Woodford, what he is going to do about their safety into the future".

She also said "we've got this 'claytons announcement' by a Minister who actually is trying to mislead the general public that they are reemploying people, yet we know, in prisons like Woodford that none of these new staff will be heading there, so I find that deeply concerning".

Queensland Corrective Services said they are working through the most equitable way to allocate these positions.
