Trio charged over hinterland pursuit

Three people have been charged with a number of serious offences after a police chase from Caboolture to Wamuran yesterday.

Police say just after 7am, a 2004 Holden Adventra was stolen from a Noellan Drive address in Deception Bay.

Later in the morning, the vehicle was spotted by Pol Air 2 and it was tracked through Caboolture, Wamuran and Woodford.

It will be alleged that the vehicle was driven dangerously including on the wrong side of the road and at speeds up to 140 kilometres per hour.

It is also alleged that at one time, the two male occupants changed seats and took turns driving.

A pursuit was authorised as were the deployment of stingers. The vehicle was successfully stung on Delaney’s Creek Road.

Around 11am, the vehicle lost control at Wamuran, outside a service station.

It will be further alleged that the male driver as well as two passengers,a man and woman, got out of the car and ran from police.

The driver allegedly attempted to enter another vehicle outside the service station but was unsuccessful.

He then found another car parked at a petrol pump and got into it.

Police stopped that vehicle from leaving the service station, and the driver allegedly got out of the car and ran from police.

After a short foot chase, he was taken into custody.

The male passenger of the original vehicle allegedly ran into bushland and was also taken into custody.

The female passenger was also later arrested.

The two men have now been charged in relation to the original vehicle theft, the dangerous driving incident and a separate burglary of a Wade Road home address sometime between May 28 and June 1.

A 21-year-old Caboolture South man has been charged with two counts each of burglary and commit indictable offence and one count each of receiving tainted property, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, attempted unlawful entry of a vehicle for committing indictable offence, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle for committing indictable offence, fail to stop, driving a vehicle without a licence (disqualified), obstruct police and contravene requirement.

He is due to appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court today.

A 21-year-old Toorbul man has been charged with one count each of burglary and commit indictable offence, receiving tainted property, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving a vehicle without a license (disqualified) and obstruct police.

He is due to appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court today.

A 24-year-old Bellmere woman has been issued with a notice to appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court on July 12 to answer the charge of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
