Police searching for man missing from campsite cut off by floodwaters

UPDATE: The 36-year-old man reported missing from Imbil has been located safe and well.

 

EARLIER: Police are mounting a massive search and rescue operation for a man missing from a campsite south of Gympie, which has been cut off by floodwaters.

The 36-year-old man was last seen at approximately 11.30pmy esterday chasing his dog away from the Yabba Creek Road campsite at Imbil.

He was reported missing at approximately 10am today after he failed to return or contact anyone.

The campsite is currently isolated from foot and road access due to several flooded river crossings.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Helicopter has been called in for an aerial search of the area as swift water rescue crews are assembled.

Police are urging any residents in the area to check their properties.

The man is described as approximately 170cm tall with a proportionate build with brown hair and beard.
