Wet won't dampen spirits at Gympie Show
The show will go on, despite the wet weather forecast for the next few days.
The gates have swung open at the Gympie Showgrounds this morning, for the first day of the Gympie Show.
The Gympie District Show Society hopes locals will brave the rain, pop on a raincoat and gumboots, and head along to enjoy three days of fun.
President Deb Brown says there's plenty to look forward to.
"All the old favourites are still here, obviously the show jumping, the stud cattle, the dairy cattle, animal nursery is always the kids' favourite.
"We've got Airtime FMX and also Trackskill V8 Utes in the main arena," she says.
Vice-president Warren Smith says the show will also end with a bang each night.
"Fireworks every night thanks to Tom Grady again, and there's $10,000 up for grabs every night."
Ms Brown says they won't let a little rain dampen their spirits.
"That's what the Gympie Show is for.. it's our community putting on a show for our community"
"The fact that we've had so many businesses come back on board when they've been inundated with floods, it's just testament to the business community and our community as a whole, that we can rally together and make this show happen."
The Gympie Show runs from Thursday, through until Saturday night.
