Dog alerts skipper as two boats destroyed by flames
Two boats have gone up in flames at Sandstone Point.
One of the vessels, moored at a marina on Spinnaker Drive, caught fire shortly after midnight.
Police say the skipper's dog alerted its owner to the blaze.
That person attempted to put out the flames themselves, before a second boat caught alight.
Four fire crews raced to the scene around 1am, to find the vessels engulfed in flames.
They managed to extinguish the fire by 2.15am but both boats were destroyed.
Paramedics assessed a man in his 30s at the scene for burns to his hands, but he declined transport to hospital.
A crime scene has been declared as police investigations into the cause of the blaze continue.
Anyone with vision or further information about how the fire may have started is urged to contact police.
