Man Shot In The Knee On Fraser Coast Flown To Sunshine Coast

UPDATE | Police need our help to locate a man wanted over a shooting on the Fraser Coast.  

Initial investigations suggest a 27-year-old man was speaking to another man before he was shot at an Acacia Road address, Bauple, around 3:00PM on Wednesday.

The victim was shot in his right leg and was airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition by the Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter.

The rescue crew was called into action just after 4:30PM.  

Paramedics initially treated the patient at the scene, before he was taken to a nearby showground to meet the aeromedical team.

He was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, in a stable condition, under the care of an RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Paramedic.

Detective Senior Constable Travis Kirby said they are following up a number of inquiries and thanked the general public for their assistance.

He said the 27-year-old was in both of his legs. The victim has undergone surgery in hospital and is believed to be in a stable condition.

Detective Senior Constable Kirby also urged anyone who does know anything about the shooting to phone Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.

Detective Senior Constable Kirby stressed that this was not a random attack, "We suspect that it was a targeted attack and the victim and the offender were known to each other".

Police are also still trying to determine what and why the shooting occurred.

Police have released a description of the man they are looking for in relation to this offence.

Detectives are searching for the man believed to be responsible, who is described as Caucasian, around 175cm tall with a scruffy appearance, beard and wearing dark clothing.

He then ran off in an unknown direction.

Anyone who sees the man is urged not to approach him and call police.

EARLIER | A man has been airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital after he was shot in the knee on the Fraser Coast.

The shooting happened at a private address at Talegalla Weir at 3:06PM on Wednesday.  

Paramedics, including Critical Care and a rescue helicopter, were called and found the victim with serious leg injuries.

He was airlifted in a stable condition to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

Police are investigating.

No suspect has been located, and Police said the injured man is not cooperating.
