Noosa Firefighting Company’s European Success
Reward for innovation, excellence and plain hard work has paid off for a specialised company based in Noosa which is at the forefront of aerial bush firefighting technology.
Two of Helitaks state of the art expandable water tanks are on their way to Europe in a deal worth over $2 Million for the company.
The partnership between Helitak Firefighting Equipment and Heli-Austria GmbH was announced after many months of research to ensure that Heli-Austria’s growing fleet of AS332 Super Puma Helicopters known as Firecats were equipped with worlds best mechanization.
Super Pumas can transport up to 20 fire, medical or support personnel while a fitted Helitak retractable underbelly tank has a capacity of 4250 litres.
After awarding the contract to design, manufacture and supply the aerial fire suppression tanks the CEO of Heli-Austria Roy Knaus said that his company had been founded in 1982, the group currently operates 35 Helicopters with a staff of 200 and works from bases in Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Iceland and Greece.
“We plan to grow our fleet of Super Puma Firecats to 23 so this partnership with Helitak Australia is vital to the ongoing success of Heli-Austria.”
Helitak Firefighting Equipment has been developing underbelly retractable tanks for over a decade and are fast becoming known for the quality and design innovation that goes into the creation of specialised tanks to suit various helicopter models. Other recent sales in Southern Australian States, Canada and the United States are a testimony to current and future sales growth opportunities.
The CEO and Chief Designer at Helitak Australia Jason Schellaars who piloted firefighting helicopters prior to creating the company said, “this latest partnership with Heli-Austria is an enormous step forward for my company and the small specialised team of creative people who have worked so hard.”
Recently McDermont Aviation took delivery of their first tank fitted to a Bell 214ST which saw immediate action during the bushfires around Peregian.
In other news Helitak is reinforcing their presence in North America taking a stand at arguably the worlds largest trade show for helicopters the HAI Heli-Expo in Anaheim California later this month.
