Matthew Flinders Anglican College - Stuart Meade
Stuart proudly leads Flinders, located in a beautiful rainforest setting in Buderim on the Sunshine Coast, as it celebrates 30 years of foundation in 2020. The College’s vision is to strive for excellence in academics, while developing the young hearts and minds entrusted to its care.
“At Matthew Flinders Anglican College, we aim to guide our 1,300 students from Prep to Year 12 to learn and embrace values of courage, respect, integrity and compassion with the support of our caring College community,” Stuart said.
“Our vision is to nurture our students’ personal development so they may become empowered citizens with the desire and skills to make a positive contribution in the wider world,” he said.
“Our Flinders families appreciate the diverse opportunities for their children at Flinders; we encourage students to explore new interests and develop their passions across academics, sport, music, the creative arts, entrepreneurship, community service and more.
“The future is looking bright for Flinders as we celebrate 30 years of foundation while planning for growth with the five-year $30 million Flinders Masterplan. “As part of this Masterplan, the College opened the innovative Year 7 Precinct in August as a dedicated space for our Year 7s to learn and gather as they begin their Secondary School journey at Flinders.
“This technology-rich, aspirational facility inspires and enables our students to learn to their potential and build vital 21st century skills which are at the heart of learning for every student at Flinders.” Flinders’ 21st century skills, also known as the Flinders Traits or the 6Cs, include skills in Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, Citizenship, and Character - all necessary for excellence in learning and in life.
Prior to his Headmaster role at Hale School, Stuart Meade served as Deputy Headmaster at Cranbrook School in Sydney and Deputy Head of Newcastle Grammar School.
Stuart holds Bachelor of Arts, Diploma of Education and Master of Education degrees from UNE and USQ, is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and is Vice-President of the Australian Schools Rugby Union.
