A Queensland Rugby League player, reported missing in Spain two days ago, has tragically been found deceased.
Redcliffe Dolphins QRL player Liam Hampson was last seen at a Barcelona nightclub on Tuesday, while holidaying with several NRL players in Europe.
His mates, including Gold Coast Titan’s star AJ Brimson, took to Instagram yesterday, pleading for anyone with information to come forward.
In a tragic update, Liam’s family has posted to social media this morning, saying the 24-year-old has been found dead in the nightclub where he was last seen.
“Waking up to the saddest news possible about Liam,” his sister Tiarna wrote in a post.
“We are devastated to find out Liam had an accident and did not survive
“We are so heart broken. Liam was the best brother I ever could of asked for and made me a better person. We cannot express our grief.”
She’s also thanks his friends for their help finding her brother.
“We cannot thank the boys he was travelling with enough for assisting with his search and made sure his last days were the best of his life.”
Local police have told 7News staff discovered a body believed to belong to the 24-year-old, in an area of a nightclub.
The death is being treated as an accident.
Liam’s dad Brett has also posted online, saying Liam had a heart of gold and was a much loved son, brother, grandson, uncle and friend.
