The large bushfire that forced evacuations near Landsborough on the weekend has been contained.
Residents between Steve Irwin Way and east towards the Bruce Highway were told to leave immediately on Saturday night and again yesterday afternoon as the fire broke containment lines in two places.
Incident controller Daniel Sandeman says around 70 crews worked on the fire on the weekend as well as water bombing planes and choppers.
He says about 20 crews will be back on the job today.
Mr Sandeman has praised the work of fire crews and said they will be monitoring fatigue after a “chaotic” weekend.
He has also praised the work of locals who helped residents move to an evacuation centre and moved livestock at the height of the fire.
The Landsborough Arts and Memorial Hall was used as an evacuation centre.
Meanwhile, Imbil residents were told to prepare to leave on Saturday afternoon due to a large grassfire.
There’s a fire ban for the entire north coast region which stretches from Moreton Bay to Bundaberg.
