Dolphins forward Tom Gilbert will be with the NRL club until at least 2028 after signing a five year contract extension.
Gilbert says he never considered moving.
He is out of the team for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury suffered in the first State of Origin game.
Dolphins CEO Terry Reader says the re-signing is a boost for the club.
Meanwhile, Dolphins hooker Jeremy Marshall-King is back in the team for Sunday’s important NRL clash with the Bulldogs in Bundaberg.
Marshall-King has been troubled by a shoulder injury, only playing in two of the Dolphins last six games.
Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow will play at fullback and Kodi Nikorima will start at five-eighth while forward Ray Stone is out with a broken hand.
Valynce Te Whare will start in the centres with Tesi Niu brought back onto the wing.
Anthony Milford will play in an impact role off the bench.
Young star Isaiya Katoa has been named at 18th man, handed a break after playing in all but one of the Dolphins’ matches in his rookie year in the NRL.
