Belinda Hudson Overwhelmed with Title of Sunshine Coast’s Favourite Teacher Hot 91 this morning surprised Belinda Hudson of Year 1B at Baringa State Primary School with the title of the Sunshine Coast’s Favourite Teacher for 2019.

She has won a trip for two to The Big Apple, New York City for being the highest voted teacher in Hot 91’s Apple for the Teacher promotion this year.

The voting was so close among teachers in the competition that the runner-up teacher received 9.5% of total votes, while Belinda received 10.2%. “I knew we were in with a good chance because I have the most amazing classroom parents, and they and the students have been so supportive,” winning teacher, Belinda said. Hot 91 Breakfast team, Dave, Sam & Ash ran into Belinda’s classroom to make the winning teacher announcement live on air, amid the excited screams of the young students.

Hot 91 handed over an Apple iPad to each of the 22 students in the class, plus the news of a class adventure at Elanda Eco Camp (with outdoor activities and the wilderness adventure of the Noosa Everglades) as reward for all their voting. “We were delighted to surprise Baringa State Primary School, one of the fastest growing schools here on the Sunshine Coast with the title and all the prizes this year,” Hot 91’s Dave, Sam & Ash said. Voting closed yesterday for the sixth year of Hot 91’s Apple for the Teacher, which requires Sunshine Coast school communities to embrace their school spirit and nominate and vote for their favourite teachers at hot91.com.au.

The 2019 promotion saw 1.65million votes for 682 individual teachers over the last three weeks, an increase on previous years. Hot 91 received a total of 4,477 teacher nominations from people across the Sunshine Coast. Other frontrunners in the competition included teachers from Banksia Beach State School (the school of last year’s winner, Mr Jay Wilson), Brightwater State School, Mountain Creek State School and Nambour State College.
